Rules Overview
During the game, your Pokémon will battle it out with your opponent’s Pokémon. To win, one of
your Pokémon must land on your opponent’s Goal.
Each turn, you’ll choose one of your Pokémon. You may move that Pokémon up to its Move Points
(MP) that turn. If you end your move next to an opponent’s Pokémon, you can choose to battle. Both
players spin their figures to see who wins!
Quick Start
- Each player starts with his or her Pokémon on his or her own Bench. (Set aside your Trainer
figure and Trainer cards for your first couple of games.)
- Flip a coin to see who goes first.
- The first player moves his or her Pokémon 1 less space on the first turn of the game.
When you’re ready to spin your Pokémon, be sure to spin it using the figure’s base, not the
figure itself. First, hold down the plastic tab. With your other hand, put a finger on the figure’s
base and give the base a spin. Your Pokémon should easily spin several times before stopping on
your Pokémon’s attack.
That’s all! Use the chart below to figure out which Pokémon wins during battle, and may the best
Trainer win!
Win the Spin!
|
Blue
|
Blue beats everything! Pokémon dodges all attacks of the other Pokémon. (Battle
ends with no effect.) |
|
Purple
|
Purple beats White! Win with Purple, and do whatever your Purple attack says. If
both players spin Purple, only do the attack that has the most stars. |
|
White
|
White against White, the strongest attack wins! Win with White, the opponent's
Pokémon is Knocked Out to their Pokémon Center. |
|
Miss
|
Miss loses to all attacks. If your opponent spins Purple, do what it says. If
your opponent spins White, your Pokémon is Knocked Out. If your opponent spins Blue, nothing
happens to your Pokémon. |
If both players spin the same color and also tie, nothing happens.
What to Do During Your Turn!
Move!
-
Choose a figure and move up to that Pokémon’s MP.
- If the Pokémon you moved is next to an opponent’s Pokémon, you can
attack!
- Both players spin their Pokémon, and then consult the chart to see
who wins.
- Knocked Out Pokémon go to their owner’s Bench.
More
information:
What is the Bench?
This is where your Pokémon start the game.
What is the Pokémon
Center?
When your Pokémon is Knocked Out, it goes here. If there is
already a Pokémon here, that Pokémon goes to your Bench.
Entry Points from the Bench
It costs your Pokémon 1 MP to move here from the Bench.
If any Pokémon is already here, you can’t use it.
What is the Goal?
If 1 of your opponent’s Pokémon lands here, your opponent wins
the game!

about the rules of moving, Trainer cards, and Special Conditions.
What is the 'Defending Pokémon'
?
Defending Pokémon refers to the other player's Pokémon that
it is battling with.
What does 'Wait' mean
?
Wait is a special game condition that can affect a Pokémon. On
the very next turn, that Pokémon can't choose to move or to attack. If my Pokémon has to Wait
during
your turn, it's not going to have an effect, and my Pokémon can still defend itself if it
is attacked.
How do you 'Surround' an opponent's Pokémon'?
Surround is a maneuver that can automatically Knock Out a
Pokémon. If a Pokémon is ever surrounded on all sides by the opponent's Pokémon, that Pokémon is
Knocked Out to the Pokémon Center.
